Description: Rare and Gorgeous hinged dangling cross brooch signed by none other than the famous Mexican sterling jewelry artisan Matilda Poulat. Another piece I didn't want to part with, but alas, we must do these things eventually!The photos don't even do this piece justice, but in 4 photos I did the best I could. I can add more for you to see if you would like on twitter I have many super enlarged photos there for all my friends to see and share. This piece has 3 sections: the top part is where the pin is, it looks almost shaped like a dog biscuit, if you may, the pin is perfectly intact, works perfectly, and it has a bail loop beneath it where it anchors to the main cross. The Main cross has many small turquoise stones, all in different shapes and colors, none actually match exactly, the usual way old ethnic Mexican jewelry was made, especially by Matl. The Upside-down amethysts are also the usual style she used as well, there are 5 of those, 4 are square, one is a diamond shaped design near the base.Then, there is a small hinged piece on the base, held by 2 links. They all appear to be original pieces. I came across this piece at an estate sale a very long time ago before I even knew what it was. I have a matching neck collar that belongs to my late mother, which I did not know what that was either, till several years ago! I will eventually list that as well.
