Description:
This 12 piece solid brass set is signed with a lion and CROSS Berlin ( on each piece). Inside is a the neatest old hinged chatelaine needle case that has a very good spring and closes tight ( and it has its original colored glass top pins inside). This has a loop at the top so it can worn on a chatelaine.
Also is a long semi flat match safe, a small cigarette case or calling card case ( with elastic straps inside) , a mechanical flip perfume ( glass top, brass half circle bottom), another holder the size of a lipstick ( possible another needle or match case?, a hand brush, a clothes brush, two nail implements, two more perfume or toiletries bottles ( one brass, one glass), a lighter case?
Total 12 pieces. I polished one side of one and it really sparkles so I know the whole set just needs cleaning up.
The mechanical perfume is just too adorable because once it closes it looks as if it is all brass, and once opened it swings around on two pivots and becomes half glass and half brass.
This set is solid brass ( not plate). The box it comes in is original and it has the KEY ( hard to find that anymore). The case looks like leather and it is a double flip top. The case measures 6 ½" x 4 ½" and stands 3 1/2" tall.
There are many close-ups of the mark ( Cross Berlin) so be sure to click on the photos to see that. I am not sure who they were that made it, but you don’t see many pieces that actually are marked Berlin.
A lot of times you see individual pieces ( like the needle case) for sale and never really know how they were sold when they were first made. This set shows you all the pieces and even has the original pockets in it for them. Quite a neat old collectible vanity or traveling case.
