Description:
Offering this nice old ship's carpenter adze in good clean useable condition. It has been sharpened recently, and has a good sharp cutting edge. The head is 10.5" long x 4" cutting width. The pin driver end is good with some sign of use, a bit rounded over on the end. The cutting edge has a slight curved bottom edge form, (the edge that cuts into the wood during use, the parallel area to the work piece), as per factory design. The handle appears to be an older Ash handle, very strong and can be removed from the head due to the tapered fit. The handle fits very tightly. There is a round piece of nail or something aluminum in the handle are a slight grain separation in that area, but not enough to weaken it very much, tested, and the handle holds strong. The handle is 30" long overall, fits the head real well, nice finish, looks nice. You may want to cut the handle a little bit as it sticks out of the head at the head end a little more than it should. This is a nice tool overall, with plenty of use left in it.
