Description: Here is a handsome chest of drawers displaying so many woods that compliment one another. The top and sides are solid cherry, the drawer fronts are mahogany and the larger drawer has an oval inlay of birds-eye maple. This is called a semi-tall chest and dates from the 1820's. The Sheraton characteristics are the tall slender legs and the two smaller drawers at the top. The Empire influence can be seen in the use of the larger deep drawer near the top and the twisted half columns on either side. Other details to note are the beading around the drawers and the graduation in sizes in the drawers. There is a wonderfully shaped skirt between the delicately turned tall legs.
