Description:
The standard bearer of the SETH THOMAS CLOCK COMPANY was surely their #2 wall regulator. Accurate, reliable, long lasting and impressive in size, these heavy clocks were used in railroad stations, office buildings; jewelery stores and other locations where an accurate and durable wall clock was necessary. This #2 is the very much sought-after re-issue that the Seth Thomas Clock Company produced in limited numbers during the 1960's. It includes the earlier "trapazoidal" brass movement. These so-called "trap" movements were never reproduced, so you can be certain that this is an original Seth Thomas mechanism (whenever you see this design of the brass plates on the movement). The dial paint on most Seth Thomas clocks became flaked over the years and later owners often replaced the dials as is the case with this one. The brass pendulum "bob" and the weight are a little tarnished as you might expect for a clock this old. They would shine like the sun if a bit of brass polish was applied. The old paper label on the bottom seat board of the case retains all of its wording. The upper door latch is a variant. The Oak case is in such excellent condition, I have to assume that it has been recently refinished. We ship clocks all over the world, but the cost of overseas shipping on a clock of this size might suggest that only buyers within the Continental United States order it. It's a nice one and we have priced it as low as most seen on the internet these days.
