Description: ONE SET ONLY THESE CAN NOT BE DUPLICATED! Presented is a very rare set of English Meteorite double lens navigation lights made in Birmingham, England. All three are being sold as a single lot. Navigation lights such as these provide redundancy in the case of a bulb failure, and cost considerable more than single lens lights. They are only fitted to vessels that have sufficient deckhouse structure to allow for their height. Hence, they are very rare. These lights show their use and age, and have some dents, and other minor imperfections such as some missing or broken wing nuts, and missing manufacture's tag and usage label on two of them. All of these minor imperfections add to their dramatic look. They may be grouped together or set to frame a doorway or entrance. Included is a port and starboard running light and a masthead white light. The lamp housing is made of copper and the hinges and cover nuts are made of brass. The 10 1/2"H x 6" W all around green light is shown for comparison only and is not included in the auction. DETAILS: Each light stands 18 3/4 inches high and is 8 inches across the top. The red and clear fresnel lenses are in excellent condition and have no chips or cracks. The green lens has two small chips which are hardly noticeable. Individual weight is 15 1/2 pounds. Double lens lights, and signal lights are both the rarest of all marine lights and are not frequently seen at auction or on the market. We see maybe 500 navigation lights to every double lens navigation light, and to have three from the same ship is very rare in deed. Consequently they are very hard to find and should be a part of any serious collection. Copyright 2005 by Land And Sea Collection, All Rights Reserved
