Description:
This is a very nice cast iron set of balance scale weights in a fitted case, in very good condition. There is 10 weight total the smallest is a 1 ounce, the largest is a 4 pound size. The largest is 4.38" diameter. All the weights are in great shape not rusty, appear to have been Japanned or painted black. Each has a hole in the bottom that was used to get the exact weight on each one. Each is marked in raised cast numbering as to the weight of each one. They stack nicely too! The fitted case is made out of hardwood, it has a heavy duty hinge that is full width, and a very heavy duty handle, with two flip latches marked "CORBIN MADE IN U.S.A." on them. The case is 2.5 x 12 x 9", very well made, well fitted. The case appears to have had a brass or metal label tacked onto it in the handle area at one time, but the set is not marked now since the label is missing. The hardware used is from the early to mid-1900's era, so I am assuming since the weight set fits so nicely that the case and set is from that same period. Shipping weight is will be around 18 pounds. A rare and hard to find cast iron weight set in a fitted case!
