Description:
Very attractive mid 19th century Sottish game board for chess, checkers or many other games is reverse painted on glass with beautiful coloring. The center playing area has black and gold squares outlined in red. The large outlying border in teal blue with heart shaped designs accented in gold, white and red. An interesting center motif in the playing area. Framed with a thick reeded frame showing a trailing leaf vine running throughout. Backed with wood and double strung wire hanger. Great size for table use and just as attractive when hung on the wall for display. The reverse painting has started to let go from age in such a way it highlights the different areas as if intended as part of the design. Behind the four areas of motif in border and in the center of the black squares forming circles in teal, red and gold against the black. Otherwise, excellent condition. A very handsome piece. Measures 18L X 18H X 1D.
