Description:
Here's an early and rare advertising sample tin for Mather "Thousand Mile Axle" Oil from the Commercial Oil Co., Cleveland, Ohio. There's the image of a buggy carriage on both sides. It looks like someone might have painted a blue stripe around the edge of the tin on the top and bottom and one corner as well as part of the top. I don't think it was original to the tin. There is also light soiling and scratches to the tin. However, this is a very rare tin that just is never seen! So, if you collect old sample oil tins or anything related to buggies or horse drawn carriages, this is a nice one! This is from a collection and is on consignment.
