Written by: Charles Eugene Banks & Opie Read. 8vo - over 7" - 9 1/2" tall. Lots of black & white pictures & illustrations. One of many "instant" disaster books released soon after the earthquake and fires at San Francisco. Released in 1906 before the city had time to recover and clean up, and to sweep the death toll under the carpet. Banks and Read were both respected writers in their day. Read was publisher of the popular humor magazine "The Arkansas Traveler" and had written more than 50 novels. Banks was working for the Seattle Post Intellegencer and was an author of many books. Interior hinges intact with a short crack. I do not see any rips on the text paper. There is some minor foxing and age-toning, which is to be expected in books of this period. A book dealer would probably rate this book higher than I have but I would rather be on the lower end and that way I am sure that the buyer would be pleased.
