Description:
AS AN OLD RUSSIAN TRADITION IT IS CUSTOMARY TO GIVE AN OPEN SALT FOR GOOD LUCK. This is a beautiful exemplar for present: Russian old silver enamel open salt in the old Russian style, decorated with enamel on filigree ornament in pastel colours. There are marks: the hallmark 84', initials "G.K."(Gustav Klingert) and date 1888. I have discovered in the book "The History of Faberge Firm" by Russian Art-Industrial Society, Petrograd that Klingert started making objects with cloisonne enamel for Faberge in Moscow in 1877. Faberge's Moscow signature often replaced by Klinkert's sign. This book has the list of Faberge cooperators where Klingert is included . You also can read about Gustav Klingert in the book "Faberge.Great Jewellers of Russia" by T.Muntyan, Moscow, Red Square, 2000, p.206. Size is 1"1/2'x 2"1/4'x 2"1/4'(4 x 5.7 x 5.7 cm). I guarantee that this item is original.
