Royal Crown Derby Aesthetic Porcelain Vase, C.1880
Description: Antique Royal Crown Derby Aesthetic Movement Porcelain Covered Vase, C.1880 England. The surface of the vase is elaborately decorated with a silver and gold gilt and enameled chinoiserie scene with birds in flight, sun, and flowering branches on a pale yellow/cream ground. The neck of the vase feature a gilt banded burgundy border. The pierced/reticulated cover features a gilt pattern on a matching burgundy ground. The base of the vase is marked with printed red Derby mark (no year cypher). Dimensions: 13.75in. High, 8.5in. Diameter. Weight: 5lbs. 12oz. Condition: The top/handle on the cover has been broken off (at the base) and re-glued/re-gilded along the base edges. There is some minor rubbing/wear to the gilt pattern and details/rims to the vase and cover. There are a few small/minor scratches to the surface of the vase. There is some minor tape residue to the edges of the cover and top of the vase (can be removed). Otherwise, the piece is in good condition.
