Description:
Royal Bayreuth Tapestry China is so named because of its rough finish similar in texture to needlepoint tapestry. The process of wrapping the article in coarse cloth, then baking, obtained this effect. The cloth was consumed in the baking and the desired tapestry effect resulted. The beautiful floral decoration was added over the glaze. This scenic vase depicts a colorful Castle, Mountain and Waterfall scene, with amazing detail, with a pale blue background. The rim is trimmed in gold but the gold is a bit worn due to age. Measures 4 inches tall x 2 3/4 inch across the rim and is in excellent condition, no chips, repairs, cracks or crazing. factory in Tettau, Germany during early 1900s
