Description: This 7 1/2 inch in diameter Royal Bayreuth Rose Tapestry serving plate features a frieze of pink roses surrounding the rim and a bouquet of roses in pink, white and yellow in the center. Very Hard To Find in this size especially with in the desirable three color rose pattern, pink, white and yellow. The rim is trimmed in gold and four gold ornaments adorn the top, bottom and opposite sides [12:00 o'clock, 3, 6 and 9]. The plate bears the blue Royal Bayreuth mark and other than a little wear to the gold, due to age, is in excellent condition. Royal Bayreuth Tapestry China is so named because of its rough finish similar in texture to needlepoint tapestry. The process of wrapping the article in coarse cloth, then baking, obtained this effect. The cloth was consumed in the baking and the desired tapestry effect resulted. The floral decoration was added over the glaze. These pieces were produced at the Royal Bayreuth Porcelain factory in Tettau, Germany during early 1900s
