Description: The pinnacle of Swiss, rectangular, watch making, culminated in the production of the Rolex "Brancard Prince". This watch is executed in stainless and 14k rose gold, which makes for a stunning piece of wrist art! It is a revolutionary timepiece that became the most accurate watch of its day. Rolex designers discovered that if they put the balance wheel and the mainspring barrel at opposite ends of the watch that they could use a larger mainspring and a larger balance wheel. It was impossible to do this in a round case where the parts are in closer proximity. It also allowed the watch to run for a longer period of time on one winding and it provided for a balance wheel that had more momentum. This momentum was aided by the use of solid gold balance screws, another innovative idea that added value and quality. All of these innovations made the "Prince" the most accurate watch of its age. The Prince was first introduced in 1928 and it came in two models, the "Classic", and the "Brancard". The "Brancard" was always more expensive than the "Classic" and likewise the stainless "Brancard" (introduced in 1934) was about 10% more expensive than the Sterling Silver model because it is more difficult to work steel than it is sterling. Gold, of course, was the most expensive, second only to platinum. The dial is rose gold and creates a visual closure with the rose gold case sides. This is a truly elegant watch which is in mint condition and is the nicest rose dial we've ever had in a two tone, "Brancard Prince". The case is beautiful, the dial expertly refinished, and the movement in excellent running condition. Fifteen ruby jewels, triple signed (movement, case, & dial), and adjusted to six positions. The case measures 24mm wide at the flare by 42mm lug to lug. This one has the hourglass flared case and recalls the late 1930's on the wrist. It is simply a fantastic watch! Like all of our timepieces it is fully restored and comes with a one year warranty. You can look, but you will never find one in better condition! It has been restored to our exacting standards and we stand behind it with our warranty. You'll never need the warranty because we are one of the only shops that actually restores watches to like-new condition. This is the "Holy Grail" of Rolex's and we found it for you!
