Description:
Fantastic all original Rococo rosewood Victorian full size
bed. New York made probably by John Henry Belter or Alexander Roux. The
top has a fabulous open fruit carved crest of solid rosewood - much like the
crest on the "Rosalie" etagere by Belter. The end posts of the headboard
are topped by delicately carved finials. The rail returns are extremely
high next to the headboard and have a nice curved shape. The foot board is
curved and has carvings on each side and on the feet. The headboard has
applied racetrack moldings. This bed even has the original large brass
castors. This bed is of top quality - even the back of the headboard is
finished. It came from an estate in Marblehead, Massachusetts. We had the
original finished French polished. A spectacular bed!
