Description:
This is just a gorgeous little serving piece and quite old too.
Made by Ridgways Potteries, Stoke on Trent, this dish is a transfer ware piece in the warm and pleasing brown color. This item is from 1885.
The pattern is DADO which is a fantastic aesthetic movement pattern featuring apple blossom buds in a branch encircling the exterior and a band densely decorated border encircling the mouth. There are panels of apples on branches on the 4 sides of the interior. There are dainty little handles at each end as well as 4 daintily little feet to hold the item up.
Year: 1885
Dimensions: 7.25" wide (handle to handle) x 4" deep x 2.5" tall. Condition: Overall very good condition. There is one chip on the corner of the mouth and there is a crack in the glaze at the interior bottom.
This item would be so lovely on the edge of an old pedestal sink holding a simple bar of white artisan soap. or perhaps on a table next to the tub with some old fashioned Epsom salts and a small silver scoop. Would also make a nice caddy for sugar packets or sugar cubes and teaspoons on a sideboard for afternoon tea. Many wonderful uses.......you come up with one!
