Description:
This is a wonderful partial set of Eames Era pottery dinnerware, made by Harmony House for Sears. Designed by Taylor Smith Taylor, the set features a sassy strutting rooster on rounded square shaped pieces in both black and white. The white items have tiny speckles in shades of blue; the black glaze has a soft finely-mottled appearance in a matte or eggshell finish. Included are:
8 Salad Plates, 7.25 inches wide, black finish, near mint condition ( 1 has a 1/2 inch area on the bottom where the black glaze is thin; 1 has a very tiny nick on the bottom edge rim ) ;
8 Soup Bowls with unusual shape ( see photos ) 6.75 inches X 6.25 inches X about 1.25 inches high, white glaze, all in mint condition but 1 which has a tiny spot of paint loss on a tail feather and a 1/2 inch long sliver-shped chip on the glaze under the lip;
8 small Berry Bowls, 5.25 inches across X 1.5 inches high, black finish, in near mint condition ( 2 have tiny speck nicks on the underside of the rim ) :
4 Dinner Plates, 10.25 inches across, white glaze, 2 in mint condition, 1 with 3 very small mousebites on the under edge, and 1 with 2 tiny speck nicks on the bottom
3 Coffee Cups, with the same chicken in a running pose, white glaze, 2 inches high X not quite 4 inches wide, 2 in mint condition, and 1 with a 1 inch long hairline crack showing on the inside
1 large Serving Bowl, oval in shape, black finish, 10.5 inches X 8.75 X 3 inches high, near mint ( 1 v small nick to glaze on bottom of rim ) .
Most of the chickens show no paint loss; several have very tiny spots of paint loss to a feather on the tail.
