Description: This original Lalique lamp features the Rinceaux glass shade designed by Rene Lalique and its original silvered bronze frame. It measures 27.4" (69.5 cm) high and the diameter of the glass shade is 15" (38 cm). Estimated weight is 25 lbs. The Rinceaux design was employed in the creation of plafonnier ceiling fixtures and chandeliers, but it appears the table lamp version is relatively rare. It was produced from 1926 through 1940. The mould-pressed glass shade has the appearance of a flower head with crescent-shaped petals with matted hollows, and carries the acid-etched LALIQUE FRANCE signature along the edge. The silvered frame features vertical grooves and the base features a stylized floral pattern around the perimeter. The lamp is in fine working order. The silvering on the frame is noticeably worn in spots. There is one small chip from the edge of one hollow and a long scratch on the inside of the shade which is not noticeable from the top. There are also a few mold marks which appear as thin lines, but there are no visible cracks. This lamp is documented on page 674 of Felix Marcilhac's catalogue raisonne published by Editions de l'Amateur of France, entitled R. Lalique: Catalogue Raisonne de l' Oeuvre de Verre. This lamp was purchased by our client in 1998 from Bernd Goeckler Antiques of 30 East 10th Street in New York City. It resides in our client's home in Purchase NY. ( dcardile )
