Description: This is a very striking gilded carved wood mirror in the Regency manner. It is certainly the work of a master craftsman. The whole frame is gilt in gold. The mirror is oval in shape and extremely grand, with a frame of Regency style hand carved motifs surrounding it. Regency is relating to, or characteristic of the style, especially in furniture, prevalent in England during the regency (1811-1820) of George, Prince of Wales who was later George IV. The mirror is surmounted by a majestic eagle, which strains its head to look to one side. Underneath the eagle are two chinese style dragon serpents. The hand carved detail is second to none.
