First Edition. 4to., 92 pp., cream illustrated dust jacket, cream paper over boards with illustrations by Thorne on front and back, tan cloth spine with black lettering, illustrated frontispiece, plus 11 additional full-page ethings by Thorne. This is a classic rare dog book, both for its stories and its illustrations. 24 short true dog stories by Terhune. 12 printed etchings by Diana Thorne. Amongst the drawings there are Wire Hair Fox terriers, Salukies, German Shepherds, Great Dane, English Setter, Scottish Terriers, and a Pekingese. A Terhune 1st edition, with some of the most wonderful of Thorne's illustrations. Dust jacket is very worn, with front flap loose and back flap nearly loose, large losses at front and spine, creases, closed tears, toning, and soiling. Bright boards with some foxing at front top, some light soiling, and some shelf wear with some minor to moderate board exposure at bottom edges and tips. Label residue on front free endpaper plsu closed tear. Interior has some toning but is otherwise clean. In Very Good condition. [NBK761]
