Description:
Charles Reade (1814-1884) British novelist. Reade was very
popular in his day for his realistic, socially aware, novels in the
style of Dickens. He wrote honestly about sex in society and
sexual frustration and fantasy. He is remembered now for just
two of his many, many novels and plays, The Cloister and
the Hearth and Griffith Gaunt.

with gold and blind emboss on spine. Marbled end pages.
Marbled edges. 13 full page woodblock prints. Includes the
novels White Lies and A Perilous Secret.
Good condition. Top band torn from spine. Edges worn,
corners worn through to board as shown.
