Description: These large Southern coin silver chop tongs are extremely rare. Made by Joseph M. Freeman (1806-1882, Norfolk, Virginia) circa 1840, they measure 11-1/4 inches in length and weigh a hefty 9 troy ounces. They are decorated with a gorgeous period script monogram EML. Functional yet very scarce, these are only the second Southern tongs we've seen.
