Description:

This rare brooch was made in the Russian Imperial capital during the Romanov dynasty’s twilight years. A beautifully rendered gold anchor set with small turquoise cabochons and a line of natural seed pearls, the pin is characteristic of turn-of-the-century jewelry from the naval port and glittering capital of St. Petersburg. The anchor rests on a gold naval flagpole with ball finial, a gold cord wrapped around the ring descends to it base. In excellent condition and completely original, the brooch has added historical and antique value.

St. Petersburg, 1904-08. Stamped with the kokoshnik or Russian headdress with initials A. R, assaymaster for St. Petersburg from 1904-1908.

2 in. (5.1 cm.) wide.

Condition: Very good. Year: 1904-08
