Description: A rare and fine quality JiaJing Qinghua Meiping, ca.1522-66. This is a special type of meiping known as xhouyao, "slender waisted". The meiping is decorated in underglaze blue with a pair of kilun, floral and other geometric patterns. The blue pigment varies in density and exhibits shiny black spots and areas. Both these details are diagnostic of Ming porcelaneous wares. The ground white glaze has a bluish tint. The entire meiping is glazed with exception to the foot rim. Painted in underglaze blue between the foot rim is a double ring and JiaJing signature.
