Description:
Rare & Important 19th C English Portrait Of Two Angelic Girls identified as Caroline Mary & Catherine Ann Caldwell. This incredible portrait has extensive genealogical background of their Children on the verso. As for the girls themselves here is what was discovered: Caroline Mary was born in 1838 died May 10, 1913 Oakham, buried Barrowby, married George Sills Oct. 8, 1864 Marylebone, 9 children, George Turner, Edith Susan, a son, Gertrude, Frederick Caldwell, Arthur, Beatrice C., Ernest, Maud. Catherine Ann born 1840, married Sept 1860 Theophilus Sandeman 9 children, Theophilus Caldwell, Arthur John Fraser, Edward William, Catherine J.S., Annie Rosalie, Ethel Louise, Florence Ida, Georgina Maria, Malcolm Gerald. The portrait is still housed in it's original 9 x 11' inch Birds-Eye Maple frame. I have not removed the paper backing to uncover any artist signature. Though it is my belief that it was done by a trained artist of notoriety given the quality and beauty of the piece. This appears to be an original work of art done in pencil.
