Hello and welcome to "A Displaced Victorian Antiques and Collectables". For your consideration is a RARE, HARD-TO-FIND LEHMANN AFRICA TINPLATE TOY. Selling this from my own collection of "stuff". I've got way too much ~ need to scale down. From Germany, c. 1905, tinplate cart finished in red with driver in blue pulled by a single ostrich, propelled by pull string flywheel. The toy also doubles as a bank with slot in back of cart to deposit coins. The paint is all original and please see the photographs for condition. Original reins are missing but certainly easy enough to obtain a replacement. This very old and much sought after toy has a book value of $1,200.00. It’s not too soon to start shopping for Christmas gifts for that special someone! Auction items are stored in a non-smoking, non-pet environment. I take the extra time to always include an abundance of clear photographs from every conceivable angle (often in various lighting situations - but I still get reflections!) in my listings. Although I try to post a thorough and accurate description, it is difficult at times to convey all the information you need. So....since a picture is worth a thousand words, please use the photographs provided as though you were holding and examining the item in your hands. During the sale, at the bottom of the page, I may add a note to let you know how many people are watching the sale. That way you will get an idea of what your competition may be.
