Description:
Origin: China,Age/Period: ca.206BC-AD8, Dimensions: 4-7/16" diameter, 3/16" thick, Weight: 4 ounces; A rare "Hi Gu Bai" color Jade Bi, ca. 206BC-AD8, Western Han dynasty. The flat round bi is engraved with the classic lo wen, (net-pattern), of engraved dotted squares. Bi, as commonly referred, actual is short for pi-liu-li, translating roughly to beautiful ring. This bi has been buried for over 2000 years and has is completely mineralized to a color of desert baked bone-white, or Ji Gu Bai" (chicken bone white) color. This mineralization is known as Qin and CAN NOT be faked. It takes the proper amount of organic material, moisture, pressure, heat and time (100-1,000s of years) to form. Depending on the combination of the afore mentioned Qin recipe, the outcome will vary greatly in color of the qin formed if any at all. In our humble opinion, this is truly a rare find. Condition Consensus: Excellent Condition, museum quality, with no injury or repair. b33
