Description: 7 1/8" height with heavy wedge section bade and tapered socket. Excavated but quite crisp with rust growth with the original finished surface showing. This example and #634 following are true battle axes, distinguished from working axes (tools) by their lack of a reinforced back poll and, more significantly, by the lack of any evidence of use of the back of the socket as a tool.
