Description:
This is a beautiful hand painted full color souvenir plate of the Gateway, Garden of the Gods, in Colorado. The plate is 10" in diameter and marked on the back is: Souvenir of Pikes Peak Region, Colo. - Adams Potteries, Staffordshire, England, imported by Jonroth England - Old English Staffordshire Ware. The plate is in excellent condition with the hand painted scene on the front in a bold and rich reddish brown with green and blue and Pikes Peak inthe background. The rare Dolphin border adds to the beauty and richness of the design. I have heard from a expert in Jonroth history, that Adams and Jonroth always called it the LEDA border. This plate was done from about 1939, with a break in the 1940s for WWII, then reordered after the War. There are no chips, flakes or cracks.
