Description:
This beautiful double case pocket watch dates back to the late 18th century. The watch is held in a silver repoussé case which has a Lion Passant mark inside near the hinge. The enamel face is hand painted with a woman waving to a British ship as it sails out to sea. There is a slight crack in the enamel as shown in photo. There are several marks on the inside of its case including a Lion Passant on the top, and in the middle a worn mark, the letters "NP" and a "B". Below is the mark of King George III and at the bottom "+ 676". There appears to be initials on the far right as well. The works are marked "J. May" and "LONDON 4676".
The watch is not running and is missing a hand but it appears that all other parts are complete. The inside of the watch is clean with no rust. I believe that the crystal is original due to its thick domed shape and shows some wear. Please see photos for all details.
