Description: Oil on canvas, framed. Signed and dated lower left: "R Viard 67". Dimensions: Canvas: 24 x 20in. Frame: 28 3/4 x 24 3/4in. Weight: 5lbs. 14oz. (Box H) Condition: Surface of the work is slightly dirty. Areas of stable craquelure to paint scattered throughout, most significant along right side and lower edge, resulting in a few minor areas of loss/chips to surface paint. Minor frame abrasion along all four edges of canvas. Light soiling to surface. Otherwise, very good condition overall with no evidence of inpainting when examined under u.v. light. Raoul Viard was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in 1923. He is considered one of the best Haitian impressionist artist. He is best known for his seascapes and brilliant colors applied with a spatula.
