Description:
Rambouillet Screen Print Tapestry-"Licorne captive"
This is a screen print reproduction based on the original (XIV Century), which resides in the Musee Des Gobelin in Paris. It is in excellent condition. The French company, Rambouillet, has been selected as the sole replicator of the famous tapestries in the museums of France. Each reproduction matches the originals right down to each imperfection, watermark, etc. The originals, by French law, are not allowed to be sold or removed from the country.
The "Licorne Captive" original was woven at end of the 15th century. Regarded as the symbol of purity in the Middle Ages, this legendary beast is fastened by a golden chain to a tree bearing pomegrenates, signifying mariage and fertiliy.
