Description:
A beautiful Northern Song dynasty QingBai/YingQing teapot, ca.AD960-1127. Originally known as YingQing ware, the name QingBai was introduced during the 18th century. The name directly translates to "Shadow Blue." Famed for their lightly potted high fired wares with a watery white glaze that has a "shadow" of blue. The glazes did vary with some being ivory white, and similar to Ding Yao ware. This one depicts the classic Northern Song shape of a melon with 17 lobes. The lid has molded and carved details. The body has carved details in high relief. The spout is short and there is a looped handle. The glaze stops unevenly above the unglazed foot. The foot is concave and has kiln sediments affixed to the surface.Condition Consensus: Excellent Condition, Museum Quality, without any damage or repair.
