"The Pupil in Magic" (German story, by philosopher Goethe, 1749-1832) - When a young magician's apprentice uses magic to help with his chores, his inexperience results in creating more trouble than help from his efforts. When held accountable for his actions, he at first denies responsibility. Only when the apprentice owns up to his actions does the magician come to his rescue.
This story was the basis for “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.”
This poster advertises “The Pupil In Magic” “Der Zauberlehrling” (which is German for “The Magicians Apprentice”). It is marked in the lower left “Registered E 850” (the “E” looks like a backwards 3) and the lower right corner “Alex Hoenig” “Lithographer” “B.S. 14.”
