Description: This Precious Moments Christmas Ornament, Baby Girl's First Christmas, is marked on the bottom with the Cracked Egg mark (Symbol of the new millennium and a new beginning. The egg speaks of birth and of new things to come - things known only to God.) / PMI / #730092 / Made in China.
Precious Moments, the trademark pastel-hued figurines with teardrop-shaped eyes, were created by Samuel Butcher of Missouri in 1978, with 21 figurines (Original 21). Sam Butcher was a preacher, and he based his creations on Christian values, naming each figurine based on either sayings from children, or deriving from their innocence. In 1974, a friend invited him to join forces and start the Jonathan & David inspirational greeting card business, utilizing the teardrop-eyed children Sam had been drawing for family and friends over the years. Sam called them Precious Moments because they carried messages of loving, caring and sharing to those he loved. This company was the first step toward the phenomenal success of Sam and his Precious Moments illustrations. In 1979, Enesco Corporation transformed the artwork into porcelain bisque figurines.
Beautifully detailed, the golden haired baby girl is dressed in a pink dress with white ruffles, a green and white cap with green socks and she is holding a blue bird. In very good + condition without chips, cracks or fleabites she measures 2 1/2 inches tall, 1 1/2 inches wide and 1 3/4 inches deep. An addition to any Precious Moments Christmas Ornament Collection.
