Description:
Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. Table of Contents Pratt Ware takes its name from a family of potters who worked in Staffordshire in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The authors describe the relief-decorated, underglaze-coloured earthenware, made from about 1780 to 1840 in England and Scotland, and how it was moulded and coloured. As a result of many years of research, they show that the ware was made not only by the Pratt family at Lane Delph and Fenton, but also by other potters in Staffordshire, Shropshire, Derbyshire, Devon, Yorkshire, Tyneside, Wearside, Liverpool and the east and west coasts of Scotland. The authors have identified, mainly by marked pieces, at least two dozen potters who made this ware.
