Delightful pottery yellow ochre and brick red rooster pitcher is signed on the bottom by well known folk potter,Jerry Brown of Hamilton,Alabama.The deep blue eyes have a whimsical expression. The 64 ounce pitcher is glazed on the inside and ready for any type of hot or cold liquid. Unusual long spout connected to the high handle,liquid pours from the beak. Mr. Brown comes from 9 generations of folk potters,digs his own clay,processes with mule powered pug mill and fires in a ground hog kiln. He specializes in face jugs prized by today's collectors and has been awarded the Alabama Folk Heritage Award and National Endowment Heritage Fellowship Award for the traditionally and excellence of his craft. Jug in excellent condition,no nicks,chips,cracks and measures 13.5H X 9.5L X 5.5W.
