Description:
A portrait from the court of Henry VIII by John Chamberlaine (1745-1812), from drawings by Hans Holbein (1497-1543). Chamberlaines illustrations conform very closely to Holbein's orginal drawings. The plates were etched and engraved using grey or sepia inks. Additional colored inks were added to the plates surface using the "A La Doupee" technique. Chamberlaine used a pink paper to match the orginal Holbein drawings. The title of this etching is "The Strange Knight". It is in very good condition except for tape marke on the top corners and on the bottom margin. These do not effect the etching. Regretably, this is not a good picture but the etching is sold with a money back qurantee. I have several other etchings in this series. Please call for additional information.
