Description:
Ceramics by Picasso
Introduction by Georges Ramié
Skira New York, 1955, Printed in Switzerland, 11X15
inches
A portfolio of 18 of Picasso's ceramic designs, one die
cut oval image is
mounted on the cover, the balance of 17 are die cut as
ovals and edge tipped
onto loose sheets
with
a design
of lines printed on them. A sixteen page introduction in
English by Suzanne
and Georges Ramié with a portrait
of Picasso is included. All are
housed
in a paper portfolio with a glassine wrapper.
The color reproduction of the the plates is of a high
quality and they would be
stunning framed as a group. The subject matter
includes a bull fight, satyrs,
birds, and stylized faces in several colors. I am
showing the cover and
4 of the 17 loose plates. If you are interested in
purchase I can send a full
set of scans of all the plates or higher resolution pictures of
select examples.
The portfolio is complete
and in good condition. There is a chip to the top edge of the
spine of the portfolio cover and one of the prints has a flaw in
the surface of the print which may be original to the printing.
The print still shows very well. I will send a close up of the
surface on request. The glassine wrapper is a
little yellowed with
several
chips on its edges and corners. Please email any
specific questions.
