Description:
This is a very old cross-stitched pillow with a lady knitting in a rocker across from a man smoking a pipe in a chair both in front of a blazing fire in a fireplace with a cross-stitch design around them and the legend....'GOD BLESS OUR HOME'. There are even candlesticks and a clock on top of the hearth. The pillow is made of old hopsacking and the back is of a kind of cotton, I think. This is over an old striped ticking pillow. The hopsacking and the back has worn through in places, and all of the corners are worn through to the corners of the inside pillow. The inside pillow is intact though. The pillow is stained and discolored with age. I think that this just adds to its charm. This would fit in wonderfully in somebody's shabby chic room. The pillow measures 10" by 15 1/2" and is about 4" thick when not being flattened. I would date this from the 1920's or so. Happy Collecting!!!
