Description:
This stereo card was published in 1900 by Underwood &
Underwood on a warped buff mount. The card shows a
photographer under his darkcloth at a large format camera on a
tripod. A young man steals a kiss from a young lady. The
caption reads "Just one, Darling, while his head is covered up." It
was a common joke from the time that suggested the sitter was
ignorant of the fact that the photographer could see them on the
ground glass of the camera. The back of the card gives the
caption in six languages. There is a neat ink caption by an
earlier owner and a small discreet stamp "Ex. Collection of Viv &
Son Lowden" in the lower left corner. The image is a bit light.
The condition of the card is good. The warp in the card for
thought to increase the stereo effect.
