Description: A very fine late 18th century sofa table in mahogany with wonderfully figured and veneered top. The rounded rectangular top is bordered with banded inlay above a frieze with two drawers at the front and drawers on the reverse (one faux; one real on each side) above twin turned legs to each side all raised on roundel-headed down swept legs joined by a generously turned stretcher and ending in brass hairy paw castors. Wonderful carvings add to the attractiveness and value of this table. The proportions of this table make it very desirable measuring just 39 inches wide (58 inches with leaves open) by 26 inches deep by 29 1/8 high. Circa 1790 - 1800. Sheraton.
