Description:
This beautifully proportioned solid cherry Sheraton period tall chest of drawers was made in Pennsylvania. Notice the elegant cornice and reeding on the front corners. There are 3 small drawers across the top with delicate cock beading. The center drawer has its original lock and wonderfully inlaid shield shaped key escutcheon. The 5 lower drawers are graduated in size, having their original locks and inlaid key escutcheons. The solid brass oval pulls are period looking replacements. All the drawers are delicately hand dovetailed and glide smoothly. The chest of drawers rests on tall, boldly twined legs. The cabinet sides have double recessed panels. There is a small abrasion on the end of the right side cornice where it meets the wall. It is hardly worth mentioning. The chest of drawers was refinished some time ago and has a wonderful color and patina. The cabinet is in excellent condition and is extremely; handsome and practical piece of 18th century Pennsylvania furniture.
