Description: 6 rare Old Paris porcelain dinner plates 18th century Each plate measures approx. 9 inches in diameter Age : Estimated late 18th century Paris porcelain, possibly La Courtilleor Duhamel. Some of the plates are deeper than others. Condition: Five are in very good condition but one has a hairline which begins near the outside edge and runs towards the centre and then another small one joins it . On the base of one pair is a monogram with EB in dull red. Two others have an impressed 'D' and two have no marks at all.All are handpainted , hard paste porcelain with deep foot. They are non identical in weight but all have the same edging and pattern of full blown roses. Hand painted with pink roses in a random sprig pattern. There is a gilt saw tooth pattern around the outer fluted rims of each. A MUST FOR SERIOUS 18th CENTURY FRENCH PORCELAIN COLLECTORS. As of 1770 in France, a large number of porcelain factories were set up in the capital. In order to avoid the royal privileges that banned production outside the Royal Manufactories (Sèvres, Vincennes, etc) and to have the right to produce, factories placed themselves under the protection of leading personalities (Comte de Provence, Comte d’Artois, Duc d’ Orléans, and others). As for Marie Antoinette, from 1776, she protected André Marie Leboeuf, established in Rue Thiroux, which later became what was known as the Manufacture de de la Reine.
