Description: Pair of cast iron Victorian period (19th century) chimney ornaments. Made in the shape of horses, with saddle and bridle etc. Painted black. These ornaments could have multiple uses - fire dogs, since the saddles would support the end of fire tools, or mantlepiece ornaments, or door stops. They each measure 21 cm high, 25 cm long and 8.5 cm deep (8.1/4 inches by 10 inches by 3.1/4 inches). They are a true pair, facing each other. Condition: Some age roughness to paint and pitting but very original and sound. Rare items. Very heavy.
