Description: Pair of Louis XVI Armchairs from France Late 1800's-Original Needlepoint Seat Height=18, Back Height=38 5/8, Seat Depth=21, Width at Arms=26 5/8 An Antique French Pair of Louis XVI Style Fauteuils (French Armchairs), Painted with Needlepoint Upholstery - Good Antique Condition –Minor Rubs and Chipping to Wood and Paint – Needlepoint Needs Restoration-Horsehair Stuffing- Circa 1880. This chic pair of antique painted Louis XVI style fauteuils or armchairs, oval with knot, and flat back are upholstered in hand made needlepoint. They have nailheads and horsehair stuffing with beautifully hand carved painted, wooden ornamentation. There is ribbon and reed, laurel leaves with buds, guilloche, fluted legs en asperges, florets and more. The needlepoint is the classic vase with flowers surrounded at the borders by elongated acanthus, garlands of rosettes, and tassels.
