PAIR FINE LOUIS XVI Style FRENCH Fancy BALLROOM CHAIRS

This item came from a huge, beautiful old Victorian home in Long Island's Wine Country -- what's sometimes called the "North Fork".  Surrounded by well known vineyards, this home has been t since the days when this region was pumpkin fields ... but today has become a combination of vineyards, summer homes and B&Bs.  This beautiful 15 room c1875 home contained both antique treasures of the past along with furniture from today, plus a wide selection of beautiful decorative accessories.  This home has been in the same family for 4 generations and many of these pieces have been with the family for that long ... while many were recent purchases.  The owners are retiring and moving south and we are proud to be able to help them bring some of their wonderful possessions to the open market.  Please see our other auctions for more from this great estate.  

ITEM:  At auction is a pair of French Louis XVI style ballroom chairs that we estimate date to c1920-1930.  These exquisite chairs are delicate with carved spindles on the back and a shield that is hand caned.  The front legs are fluted and end in ball feet. The wood is a fruitwood which is heavily and ornately carved throughout the top, the seat and the legs. The upholstered seats are finished with brass nail heads and the frieze is ornately carved.  They have been recently reupholstered in an exquisite silk floral upholstery that has a neutral color palette which enable these lovely chairs to go with any color scheme.  These exquisite chairs would look lovely in a living room or salon ... as extra dining chairs ... as fireside chairs ... in the vanity or boudoir ... or just about anyw   They have a delicacy to them with a beautiful silhouette and they are in top notch condition and are quite sturdy.  They would add great beauty and elegance to their surroundings.  

DIMENSIONS:  Each one of these exquisite chairs measures 16" Wide X 15" Deep X 38" High to the top of the back.

CONDITION: Good condition with a rich original patina.  T is no damage.  They were reupholstered so their upholstery is virtually new and, at that time, t was some tightening and gluing done of the joints.  A few minor character marks are age appropriate and merely serve to verify vintage.  Please note that both chairs stand perfectly straight -- you are looking at an optical illusion in the photos that shows them slightly out of parallel.
