Description:
We are pleased to offer a pair of Sevres urns dating from the latter decade of the 19th century. They are coloured in a magnificent cobalt blue and are decorated with gilt metal bases, handles, top and top surround. The bodies are painted with sinuous art nouveau flowers.
Rather large they look stately on a mantle and are gorgeous examples of the porcelain maker's art.
The base is covered with base metal and the tops are integral and do not lift off. Hence we cannot verify the Sevres mark underneath although we are certain that these marks are on the porcelain. Otherwise they may be by one of the other manufacturers in Paris of this period who emulated the works of Sevres.
Some light wear to painting and to gilt.
