Description:
These are two Empire style marble topped circular mahogany stands. Topped in a gorgeous deep green marble and smothered in ormolu mounts, these mahogany stands are the epitome of lavishness and style. They are sure to become a talking point in your home, ideal for cascading plants or prized sculptures. The Empire Style, sometimes considered as the second phase of Neo-classicism, is an early 19th century style of architecture and furniture design that takes its name and originates from Napoleon's rule of France, known as the First French Empire. These stands are identical. The wood is polished to a very high gloss. They have four legs which are joined at the base by a wooden cross piece, which forms a shelf for extra display pieces. The feet are very interesting, they feature ormolu mounts in the form of animal paws, above which are pairs of stylised human feet. The ormolu mounts around the rim are floral motifs. Those along the legs are female heads wearing wreaths.
